LEAWOOD, KS - Latest News

The Kansas legislature passed the Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act making all public places and workplaces statewide smoke free, including restrictions in bars and restaurants.  The law becomes effective on July 1, 2010, and provides exemptions for private clubs in existence before Jan. 1, 2009, tobacco retail shops, 20% of hotel rooms and casino floors throughout the state.

For Leawood this means their 2008 smoking ordinance will remain in effect.  The ordinance in Leawood includes an exemption for tobacco retail shops.

We would like to thank the Leawood City Council members and citizens for taking the initiative with their 2008 smoking ordinance.
