Fairway, KS - Latest News

The Kansas legislature passed the Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act making all public places and workplaces statewide smoke free, including restrictions in bars and restaurants.  The law becomes effective on July 1, 2010, and provides exemptions for private clubs in existence before Jan. 1, 2009, tobacco retail shops, 20% of hotel rooms and casino floors throughout the state.

For Fairway this means that their comprehensive 2006 smoke-free ordinance will remain in effect.  This ordinance does not include exemptions for private clubs, tobacco retail shops or casino floors.  All Fairway hotels will comply with the state law's 20% exemption.

We would like to thank the city council and citizens of Fairway for taking the initiative and passing a comprehensive smoking ordinance in 2006.
