PARKVILLE - Latest News

Parkville passed a weakened smoke free ordinance on April 7, 2009.  Initially the ordinance was proposed as a comprehensive ordinance in public places with a few exemptions.  However, it was amended at the request of business owners. The new ordinance includes exemptions for restaurants and bars with less than 50 seats as well as a permanent exemption for Parkville's two private clubs; however, children under 18 could not enter a private club.  The ordinance became effective immediately upon passage, while enforcement began on October 2, 2009.  Area restaurants and bars wishing to allow smoking may petition the city for an exemption lasting until April 7, 2011 with full ordinance implementation occuring then.

You can view the ordinance in its entirety on the Parkville, MO Official Website.   Click on the link and choose the smoking ban folder.
