MISSION WOODS - Latest News

The Kansas legislature passed the Kansas Clean Indoor Air Act making all public places and workplaces statewide smoke free, including restrictions in bars and restaurants.  The law becomes effective on July 1, 2010, and provides exemptions for private clubs in existence before Jan. 1, 2009, tobacco retail shops, 20% of hotel rooms and casino floors throughout the state.

For Mission Woods this mean their 2006 smoking ordinance will be strengthened. The state law does not provide exemptions for establishments that allow smoking in a specially vented smoking room.  The Mission Woods smoking ordinance does not provide any of the statewide smoking exemptions.

We would like to thank the Mission Woods City Council members and citizens for taking the initiative with their 2006 smoking ordinance.
